Roberto Rigobon
President 2012-2013

Roberto Rigobon got his Ph.D. in economics from MIT in 1997, an MBA from IESA (Venezuela) in 1991, and his BS in Electrical Engineer from Universidad Simon Bolivar (Venezuela) in 1984. He is currently an associate professor at the Sloan School of Management, MIT, a faculty research fellow of the National Bureau of Economic Research, and a visiting professor at IESA. He joined the business school in 1997 and has won three times the "Teacher of the year" award and three times the "Excellence in Teaching" award at MIT. His areas of research are international economics, monetary economics, and development economics. In international economics, Roberto focuses on the causes of balance-of-payments crises, financial crises, and the propagation of them across countries - the phenomenon that has been identified in the literature as contagion. He has developed econometric techniques to determine the existence of contagion and the extent of it.

LACEA 2013

Call for Papers

The 2013 LACEA and LAMES meetings will take place in Mexico City, Mexico, from October 31 to November 2, 2013. The Meetings will be hosted by El Colegio de México. The Annual Meetings of these two academic associations will be run in parallel, under a single local organization. By registering for LACEA-LAMES 2013, participants will be welcome to attend to all sessions of both meetings.The deadline for submissions is June 14, 2013. 

 

 PEG meeting will take place in Bogotá, Colombia, on May 30th and 31st, and will be organized by Universidad de Los Andes and Fedesarrollo. For more information click here
