The Latin American and Caribbean Economic Association or Asociación de Economía de América Latina y el Caribe (LACEA) is an international association of economists with common research interests in Latin America. It was formed in 1992 to facilitate the exchange of ideas among economists and policymakers. For more information about LACEA, preview its history and Bylaws. We also invite you to join LACEA. LACEA Annual Meetings

The 17th Annual LACEA Meeting 2012  will take place in Lima, Perú on November 1st-3rd, hosted by Universidad del Pacífico (UP).

The 16th Annual LACEA Meeting 2011 took place in Santiago, Chile on November 10th-12th, hosted by Universidad Adolfo Ibañez (UAI). For more information click here.

The 15th Annual LACEA Meeting 2010 took place in Medellín, Colombia on November 11th-13th, hosted by Banco de la República, Centro de Pensamiento Social of Proantioquia, Universidad de Antioquia and Universidad Eafit.  For more information click here.

Vox.LACEA, the Web Forum of LACEA
  Vox.LACEA  is a portal for research-based policy analysis and commentary by leading scholars on issues relevant to Latin America and the Caribbean.  With the support of the Global Development Network, Vox.LACEA aims to raise the bar of the policy debate in the region by providing an interactive platform for researchers to present their work and to stay up to date on the latest developments and discussions. 


LACEA and the Global Development Network- GDN 
 Since 1999, the Global Development Network has been awarding annual grants to LACEA as part of its program on Regional Research Consortia capacity building. GDNet Regional Windows- LAC Regional Window

The GDNet  regional windows are a key part of realizing GDN's commitment to decentralization and capacity building in developing countries. The Latin America & the Caribbean (LAC) Regional Window is produced by LACEA in partnership with GDNet. The window features news and funding opportunities, policy related social science research papers, profiles of researchers and organizations based in the Latin America & the Caribbean region. Economia, the Journal of LACEA

Since 2000, LACEA has been publishing the journal Economia. The objective of the journal is to provide a forum for high-quality research directly applied to policy issues within and among countries of Latin America and the Caribbean.

LACEA's Diaz-Alejandro Prize is designed to honor the memory and contribution of Carlos Diaz-Alejandro, and to encourage high quality research on economic issues relevant to Latin America.

LACEA 17th Annual Meeting will take place in Lima, Perú on November 1st to 3rd, 2012, and will be hosted by Universidad del Pacífico (UP).   The Conference Chair is Eduardo Morón, (Director, Master of Economics UP). Vox.LACEA in conjunction with GDNet’s LAC Regional Window  is currently featuring a discussion forum on "How to Facilitate the Intake of Policy Relevant Research by Policymakers" as part of an academic effort to complement current knowledge on how evidence-based policies come into being.
