Orazio Attanasio has a Ph.D. in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Currently he is Professor of Economics at the University College London and Research Associate of the Institute for Fiscal Studies of London. He is also Research Associate of the National Bureau of Economics Research. Previously, Attanasio was Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Bologna and Assistant Professor of Economics at Stanford University. He has been Visiting Professor at the University of Chicago and Visiting Scholar at the International Monetary Fund. From 1998 to 2002, he was Managing Editor of the Review of Economic Studies. He is currently Associate Editor of the Journal of the European Economic Association, and of the Journal for Money Credit and Banking and he is on the Editorial Board of the Review of Economic Studies. In 2000 he was elected Member of the Council of the European Economic Association, in December 2001, Fellow of the Econometric Society. He has published his research in the American Economic Review, the Quarterly Journal of Economics and the Journal of Economic Development, among others.
