Ernesto Schargrodsky

Ernesto Schargrodsky received his Ph. D. in Economics from Harvard University in 1998. He is a professor at Universidad Torcuato Di Tella in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and has been a visiting professor at Stanford University. His research includes studies of the effect of police deployment on crime, the impact of the privatization of water companies on child mortality, the relationship between bureaucratic wages and corruption, the distribution of crime victimization across socioeconomic groups, and the effects of awarding land titles to squatters. His work has been published at the American Economic Review, Journal of Political Economy, Journal of Law and Economics, and Journal of Development Economics, among others. He has been awarded fellowships and grants from Harvard University, Stanford University, Inter-American Development Bank, World Bank, United Nations, CONICET of Argentina, and the Global Development Network.
