Call for Papers The eighth meeting of the LACEA/IDB/WB Network on Inequality and Poverty (NIP) will be held in Mexico City, at the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (http://www.itam.mx) on November 1, 2006. The NIP is an initiative that aims to advance the state of knowledge and expertise regarding the causes and consequences of poverty, inequality, and social exclusion, as well as the whole range of policies, institutions, and social structures that influence their dynamics, as well as the impact of public action. Contributions are invited in two broad themes i) Informality, small firm dynamics and productivity; ii) Trade integration (Impact of trade liberalization, trade agreements and trade policy in general). In both topics, preference will be given to papers that link these issues with the development challenge of creating more jobs and reducing poverty and inequality in Latin America and the Caribbean. The meeting program will include a keynote address, and papers selected on the basis of academic merit, each with a formal discussant. Submitted papers will be reviewed by a program committee, which includes members of the Executive Committee of the Network. Papers should be sent by September 5th, 2006. Authors chosen to present papers will be notified through email on September 20th, 2006. Strict compliance with these deadlines is required. Calva Elia Carrasco The NIP may partially finance travel expenses of those participants who
are not able to obtain complete financial support from their institutions.
