Call for
Papers
National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) presents the
InterAmerican Seminar on Economics (IASE) Annual Conference
Santiago, Chile, November 20-22, 2003
“PRODUCTIVITY
DYNAMICS”
The National Bureau of Economic
Research’s Annual IASE Conference for 2003 will be hosted by the
Centro de Economia Aplicada, of the UNIVERSIDAD de CHILE, and will
be held in Santiago on November 20-22.
This year’s IASE will focus on “Productivity Dynamics.” We are
interested in papers that deal with both micro and macro aspects
of productivity growth. More specifically, we are looking for
papers that deal with some of the following issues:
(1)
Characterization of plant dynamics
with emphasis on plants level TFP. The analysis may consider the
aftermath of structural reforms.
(2)
Productivity
heterogeneity and idiosyncratic shocks.
(3)
The links between slow
aggregate recoveries and firm dynamics.
(4)
The link between
aggregate TFP, income per capita, and distortions (policy, special
interest groups, and monopoly rights) that alter the process of
birth, growth and death of firms.
(5)
Market structure and
the level and growth of productivity.
Papers dealing with
related topics would also be welcomed.
Papers do NOT have to be restricted to the Latin American
experience. In fact, we would like to encourage submissions that
deal with other experiences.
The organizers will pay transportation and hotel costs for up to 4
days to participants in the meeting.
Traditionally a selection of papers presented at IASE’s Annual
Conference is published in a Special Issue of the Journal of
Development Economics.
Please send proposals electronically (either paper or abstract) by
June 15th to:
