Call for
Papers
Fourth Annual Meeting of LACEA
Santiago, Chile, October 21-23, 1999
The Centro de
Economía Aplicada of the Departamento de Ingeniería Industrial,
Universidad de Chile, and the Instituto de Economía, Pontificia
Universidad Católica de Chile, are organizing the 1999 LACEA
Conference. The meetings will take place in Santiago, Chile on
the 21-23 of October 1999. We invite participation from all
branches of Economics, from researchers and advanced graduate
students interested in issues of relevance to Latin America.
During the 1996 Meetings organized by ITAM, México, 157 papers
were presented in 49 sessions. The 1997 Meetings, organized by
the FEDESARROLLO and Universidad de Los Andes, Colombia, 218
papers were presented, in a total of 66 sessions. In the latest
Meetings, in 1998, organized by the Universidad Tocuato di Tella,
Argentina, 240 papers were presented in 60 sessions.

Interest:
The Association is
interested in theoretical and empirical contributions in all
fields of economics. Authors are requested to classify their
papers according to the JEL classification system.
Graduate
Student Participation:
Graduate Students are
encouraged to submit their work in progress.
Paper
Submission Procedure:
Individuals that wish to
present papers should submit abstracts no later than March 30,
1999. Electronic submissions of abstracts are accepted. Three
copies of the finished papers or preliminary drafts must be sent
by May 15, 1998. Please, do not submit papers electronically. Use
JEL classification numbers in the presentation of your submission.
Papers accepted will be notified no later than July 15, 1998.
Decisions regarding financial support will be informed starting
July 15Th. Multiple individual submissions are
discouraged and under no circumstances more than two submissions
will be accepted from the same person, although he/she may be
co-author in other papers submitted to the Conference.
