LACEA Membership Information
LACEA was established in 1992 by a group of economists with a common interest in Latin American economic issues. The purpose of LACEA is to encourage greater professional interaction and dialogue among researchers and policy-makers concerned with Latin American and the Caribbean. LACEA is part of the Allied Social Sciences Association. LACEA organizes sessions at the annual meetings of the American Economic Association, the Latin American Studies Association and the Econometric Society/Latin America meetings. LACEA also hosts a large annual meeting in Latin America with over 200 papers and nearly 300 participants. A policy oriented journal focusing on Latin American economic issues is also in the works. The next LACEA meeting will be held in Chile, jointly sponsored by Universidad Católica de Chile and Universidad de Chile, during October 21-23 1999.

Please write a check or money order to the order of LACEA and send it to LACEA c/o Ariel Fiszbein, The World Bank, 1818 H Street N.W., Washington D.C. 20433, USA. Members need to be current in their dues to participate in the LACEA-98 conference and vote for officers of the association. The 1999 membership dues can also be paid at the conference in Chile.
