Fredrick Mishkin of Colombia University opens LACEA'99, along with Dominique Hachette, the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, Nora Lustig, IDB and President of LACEA 1998-99, Eduard Aninat, Finance Minister of Chile and Jose De Gregorio Universidad de Chile.

1999 LACEA Presidential Address

LACEA Annual Meetings grow in size and scope…

During the 1996 Meetings organized by ITAM, México, 157 papers were presented in 49 sessions. At the 1997 Meetings organized by the FEDESARROLLO and Universidad de Los Andes in Bogota Colombia, 218 papers were presented, in a total of 66 sessions. In the latest Meetings, in 1998, organized by the Universidad Tocuato di Tella, Argentina, 216 papers were presented in 60 sessions, with a total registration of 426 people. The 4th Annual meeting in Santiago, Chile was hosted by the Centro de Economía Aplicada of the Departamento de Ingeniería Industrial at the Universidad de Chile, and the Instituto de Economía, of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
